Setup Information

There are two steps needed to setup ABLE Web:

  • Sun JAVA v5 or higher must be running in your browser.
  • The FTP client must be setup on your workstation.

Check Your Version of Sun JAVA

  1. Open the Control Panel from the Start Menu
  2. Open Java or Java Plugin
  3. Click on About
  4. The version should be 5 or later

Note:  If you are running v4, you will need a JAVA update found at http://www.java.com.  Please speak with your technical staff before installing the update.

Setting Up the FTP Client

  1. Create the following folder on your local drive:  C:\FTP_CONFIG
  2. Choose Click here to download the FTP client
  3. Save the File to the local drive or desktop
  4. Run the WEBFTP.EXE from the local drive and click on Finish
  5. Click OK and minimize any open windows
  6. Open My Computer from the Desktop - Choose the "C" drive then the FTP_CONFIG folder

        (Note: Please rename if the folder is truncated - ex. FTP_CON - it should read FTP_CONFIG)

  1. Right click on FTP_CONFIG.BAT and choose Edit

        (Note: If the file is truncated - ex. FTP_CON.BAT, please rename to FTP_CONFIG.BAT)

  1. Change the xxx listing to your Bindery's Initials (list below) - all lowercase and the ### listing to your ABLE Web account number

        Example: set ABLE_REMOTE_PATH=/files/xxx/able/#### would change to
                     set ABLE_REMOTE_PATH=/files/mab/able/123456

  1. Click on File - Save then File – Exit
  2. Close My Computer
  3. Create a new icon by right clicking in a blank portion of the desktop.
  4. Choose New then Shortcut 
  5. Copy the following information into the command line:

          c:\ftp_config\able_put.bat

  1. Choose Next - Name the Icon ABLE FTP and choose Next
  2. Pick an Icon and choose Finish

You may now use the login link at the top of the page to log into ABLE Web.
